Every year, the Toast of Surrey Awards highlight the county’s most innovative companies that are putting Surrey on the map. And we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been named as finalists for not one… but two awards this year! Our managing director Paul Jarrett is a finalist for the Entrepreneur of the Year award and Sonin is a contender for SME Business of the Year.
Entrepreneur of the Year
The Entrepreneur of the Year award celebrates the individuals behind the most innovative and successful businesses in Surrey. The Judges will be looking for entrepreneurs that get results through unique approaches to their marketplaces.
One of the key reasons Paul was named a finalist for the award is his championing of Sonin Create. It’s through this initiative that we dedicate some of our time to think, innovate and create something new with the very latest tech. For example, the latest Create Day saw the team produce an app to streamline client visits using iBeacons.
It’s by exploiting new opportunities in the digital space that Paul has grown Sonin so much in the past few years. He recognised the potential of mobile apps and their business use a long time ago. And today, he continues to look for ways in which businesses can improve interactions with their clients and teams. It’s this forward-thinking approach that has won us many of our recent projects.
SME Business of the Year
We’ve been named as a finalist for the SME Business of the Year award because of one thing: our team. Our staff at Sonin are all experts in their respective fields, but they’re also always pushing themselves to expand their knowledge and skills.
This means that our developers are business-savvy, our project managers know the deployment process inside-out and our sales team has an in-depth understanding of the development cycle. For example, our lead developer Charlie identified the Kotlin programming language as a great way to streamline our mobile app development process. And we’ve just rolled out our second app built entirely on Kotlin.
Similarly, our mobile developer James has become an expert in the AI field, using his knowledge to develop a bespoke image classification and recognition tool for one of our clients. It’s because of this that our staff are often the go-to contacts for clients with questions. And it’s this personal touch that makes us stand out in the industry.
