We’re excited to introduce three fantastic new members of the Sonin team! Emily, James and Greg (below) bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to their new roles, and we couldn’t be happier to have them on board.
In this blog, we’ll learn a bit about their backgrounds, what they’ll be working on, and their first impressions of Sonin’s vibrant team and culture.

Emily O’Callaghan
Project Manager

James McConville
Head of Operations

Greg Reygate
Head of Marketing

Can you tell us a bit about your background and what led you to join Sonin?

Emily, Project Manager: I’ve spent just over six years working as a Project Manager in the translation services industry, primarily working within the pharmaceutical sector. It was a rewarding place to learn and develop my project management skills through overseeing complex, highly regulated, and high-risk projects. What led me to Sonin was the opportunity to bring my skills and experience into a completely new environment. The idea of stepping into the development space, applying what I have learnt but facing new and different challenges really excites me. Joining Sonin felt like the perfect next step to push myself to learn and grow in this field and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of the team.

James, Head of Operations: I have over 15 years of experience in Operations, spanning diverse sectors such as Education, Travel & Tourism, and Financial Technology. One aspect I’ve particularly enjoyed in my roles has been participating in Agile projects and this was a factor which ultimately drew me to Sonin. I was also impressed by Sonin’s strong commitment to company values and the evident passion they bring to their work.

Greg, Head of Marketing: I have worked in marketing across various roles for over nine years. During those nine years, I’ve been fortunate to have worked in many different industries and with some amazing people, but my true calling has always been to work within the tech industry, as it has always been something I am interested in outside of work. Having the ability to now work in the industry I’m so passionate about is, without sounding too cheesy, a dream come true.

What will your role involve and what are you most excited about working on?

Emily, Project Manager: In my role, I’ll be diving into project management, which I see as the oil that keeps the cogs turning smoothly. I’ll be working closely with a variety of teams to ensure we are all aligned and driving toward that final goal – helping to build the right product for the client. What really excites me about working at Sonin is the chance to learn and explore the wide range of sectors and clients we support. Every project is an opportunity to dive into a new world and I can’t wait to see what we can build together.

James, Head of Operations: As Head of Operations, I will be responsible for leading on the delivery of our current business as well as the day-to-day operations at Sonin. I’m particularly looking forward to working with the team on the strategic vision of the department and building on Sonin’s success.

Greg, Head of Marketing: My role at Sonin involves shaping the brand and crafting the marketing strategy, a prospect that excites me to no end. But what truly fuels my enthusiasm is our collective ambition to excel in the industry and leave a lasting impression.

What are some of your interests or hobbies outside of work?

Emily, Project Manager: Outside of work, I’m a huge reader – you’ll never see me without a book in my hand or at least a new one on the go! Whodunits are my guilty pleasure. I’m also passionate about staying active, whether it’s hitting the gym or heading out for a hike.

James, Head of Operations: Outside of work I enjoy keeping fit and playing sports. I’m also a very amateur guitarist with a particular passion for old blues music. Originally from the Midlands, I’m a big fan of Aston Villa football club which has its good and bad days!

Greg, Head of Marketing: I have recently taken up diving (which to many of my friends and family was a shock considering I was scared of deep water!) It turns out that a little push, figuratively not literally, from my wonderful partner, did the trick.

What has been your first impression of the team and company culture so far?

Emily, Project Manager: Everyone has been so welcoming, open and supportive. The team is always ready to answer any questions I have, and I love how focused everyone is on continuous improvement. It’s clear that everyone here is passionate about growing and making things better, and that energy is really inspiring.

James, Head of Operations: My initial experience at Sonin has been excellent, everyone I have spoken to has been incredibly helpful and supportive and it’s easy to see why the culture is such a strength here. I am really looking forward to getting to know everyone better over the coming weeks and taking part in some of the social events and activities.

Greg, Head of Marketing: What on earth have I joined? I am joking, of course. They have been the best right from the get-go. They go the extra mile for any team member, not just the newbie. The teams are all very experienced and offer a huge amount of knowledge and expertise, which is why Sonin is an industry-leading mobile app developer.
