We’re hiring for a Business Development Manager to join our team!

In this role, you will be responsible for researching, planning and activating an account based plan for business growth. By building relationships and contacts you will provide the Sales team with excellent leads who have a business need for the services of Sonin. You will actively seek new ways of developing new business prospects and opening up new markets where there are opportunities for growth. 

Location: Reigate office, travel to other locations and customer sites as needed 
Salary: Competitive 
Contract: Hybrid, Full-time 
Hours: 37.5 hours per week around core hours of 10:00-16:00

Main duties and responsibilities 

  • Conducts research and develops detailed understanding of potential clients and their business.
  • Creates and categorises a pipeline of potential clients according to business fit, need and value. 
  • Develops relationships using an Account Based Marketing approach with potential clients.
  • Attends and participates in networking and other events to raise awareness of Sonin and our services and create new contacts.
  • Creates plans for target clients with regular touch points in longer sales cycles. 
  • Stays up to date with clients’ industry and challenges. Understands the business problems that provide opportunities for them to work with Sonin.
  • Utilises creative and effective ways to reach targeted new clients and their decision makers. 
  • Builds productive relationships with various stakeholders in targeted businesses.
  • Approaches clients with a consultative sales approach.
  • Produces and shares reports and business information about the potential market, industries and clients with the Sales and Marketing teams. 
  • Tracks and measures progress and provide forecasts for Sales and Operations Planning processes.

Qualities and skills 

Essential

  • Knowledge of the market and proven track record of developing new business in a similar sector.
  • Business management, planning and leadership skills. 
  • Excellent verbal communication. 
  • Self-starter with excellent team working. 
  • Consultative, collaborative and engaging way of working with clients to build trusting relationships.
  • Has ambition and a desire to succeed.
  • Research, strategy and planning experience.
  • Knowledge of methods of gathering business intelligence.  
  • Experience in a technology / agency environment.
  • Strong teamworking and collaboration skills  as well as confident, independent working skills.  
  • Ability to motivate and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent customer and stakeholder communication skills. 

Desirable 

  • Negotiation skills. 
  • Competent in consultative sales processes and formulating bespoke service offerings. 
  • Experience delivering effective and focussed pitches as well as negotiation and closing sales. 
  • Understanding of sales/budgeting/quoting in an agency type business.
  • Able to set budgets and set pricing strategies.

Education 

  • Degree in business/MBA or equivalent work experience/training.  
  • Leadership or management qualification (desirable). 

Work Experience

  • Experience working in Business Development, Account based marketing or Sales in similar sector. 
  • Being a knowledgeable representative for a business to stakeholders and clients.
