We’re thrilled to announce Sonin is a finalist for three categories in the UK App Awards 2020. It’s great to be recognised not just for our stellar work this year but also as a leading agency that understands, cares, and never stops thinking.
If you’re getting a sense of deja vu, it’s understandable. After all, it’s only been two weeks since Sonin was named as a finalist in two Health Tech Awards. But to clear up any confusion, this is another different awards announcement.
The UK App Awards celebrate digital excellence within the UK. Every year, a panel of industry experts reward exceptional experience design and outstanding product development across a number of different verticals.
I’m thrilled to say that, this year, we appear three times on the 2020 finalists page:
- Sonin is up for ‘UK App Agency of the Year’
- OpenAir Med is a contender for ‘Health & Fitness App of the Year’
- And our work on pilot healthcare app Dom Care is a finalist for ‘Innovation of the Year’
It’s great to be recognised not just for our stellar work this year but also as a leading agency that understands, cares, and never stops thinking.
Sonin for UK App Agency of the Year
Let’s face it, 2020 has not been without its challenges. But that hasn’t stopped us from producing some of the best (and most important) work we’ve ever done.
As is the nature of our work, there’s a lot we can’t talk about just yet. But here are a few of the projects we’re proud to have worked on this year:
- OpenAir Med is providing peace-of-mind to the 10,000 new people diagnosed with a respiratory illnesses every single week.
- Our work on carbon-footprint app Px3 (which was recently covered in The Guardian) is helping companies like Citrix, Google and Microsoft to remove 100,000 cars’ worth of CO2e by 2050.
- The pilot we’ve produced for a client, Dom Care, has proved the potential of mobile in helping elderly people to live safe, independent lives through their senior years – all at a reduced cost.
But the UK App Agency of the Year award isn’t just about the work. It goes beyond digital excellence to recognise the culture and values behind it all.
Our three core values are we understand, we care, and we never stop thinking. All three have been critical to our continued success over the last decade. But it’s the caring part that makes the most difference – not just to our clients but to our community.
One of our biggest achievements of 2020 so far was teaching over 150 students to code iOS and Android with Sonin Learn, helping them use lockdown to add valuable skillsets to their CVs. I’m excited to show you the next iteration of Sonin Learn – but it’ll have to wait for another time!
OpenAir Med for Health & Fitness App of the Year
The ‘Health & Fitness App of the Year’ category recognises exceptional User Experience (UX) design on products that monitor, maintain, or improve people’s wellbeing.
10,000 new people are diagnosed with a respiratory illness every single week. These conditions affect many different aspects of patients’ daily lives. From sport to work to activities and even their relationships.
These patients need the tools to manage their conditions themselves, letting them live their lives uninhibited. OpenAir Med gives patients instant feedback on their respiratory health wherever they are. The innovative health and fitness app provides people with peace-of-mind to live their lives without their conditions getting in the way.
Meanwhile, doctors, and health coaches can access an unprecedented dataset to provide tailored advice to each patient.
OpenAir Med is an innovative, patient-centric experience through and through.
Dom Care for Innovation of the Year
The ‘Innovation Award’ recognises outstanding innovations within the UK digital sector. Dom Care is an innovative healthcare pilot for domiciliary residents, care-givers and family members.
More than 875,000 people in the UK receive domiciliary care. This need grows every single year. Public funding for it, however, does not. This means that each year, 2 million people join the invisible army that props up the NHS.
Dom Care is a promising innovation that uses proactive push notifications and video-calling technology to allow elderly people to live safe, independent lives through their senior years – all at a reduced cost.
From everyone at Sonin, I’d like to congratulate all our fellow finalists in the UK App Awards. I also want to congratulate our two clients and the invaluable members of our product teams who demonstrated that they care, understand, and never stop thinking.
We’re looking forward to the awards ceremony on November 12th when the winners will be announced. Until then, you can keep up-to-date with other announcements from the Sonin Newsroom by signing up to our newsletter.
