Should we build for iOS, Android or both?

Put simply, build for the devices your users use.

Consumer apps in the UK and US will usually need to have an app on Android and iOS as both platforms have large user bases. If you are building an internal tool for your company’s employees to use, then you may be able to target a single platform when the company supplies the devices.

Should you build apps using Swift, Kotlin, Flutter or React Native?

The right technology is a key choice to ensure you can deliver what you need to across the apps entire lifetime.

Swift and Kotlin (or native app development) are the languages provided and recommended by Apple and Google for building apps for iOS and Android. Therefore they offer the best experience, with the highest level of support and performance.

Flutter and React Native are hybrid platforms, offering to provide the ability to write code once and deliver it to multiple platforms.

We often recommend building natively to provide you the highest level of flexibility for the future, however we also build using Flutter or React when the project is appropriate.

Do you build apps for staff and field teams as well as consumers?

How long does it take to build a mobile app?

Nowadays the key metric for the time to build an app is decision making time.

In our experience a focussed first version can be produced within 2-3 months depending on if you carry out product discovery and user research first, however this can change based on stakeholder team size and your decision making process.

Larger apps can take longer, but we usually recommend to release these in phases so that you can start getting value early.

Integrations can also affect timelines, and our delivery team will address these dependencies immediately at project kick off to help reduce risks to timelines.

Do you handle App Store and Google Play submission?

We’re here right from the “I have an idea” moment, all the way to deployment and driving adoption.

Our delivery team will walk you through setting up your accounts and take care of preparing listings, reviews notes and imagery, before handling submission and any back and forth with the app stores.
