Meet the Client

OpenAir Medical Devices is a health‑tech company dedicated to improving patients lung health, by driving a proactive approach to understanding lung health. By improving access to how lung health is measured, monitored and managed, in combination with external factors such as pollution and weather users are able to take their lung health into their own control and reduce medication levels.

Founded by paediatrician Dr Don Butler (with over 40 years’ experience) alongside his son in the UK, OpenAir Med’s mission is to empower individuals, whether living with asthma, COPD, or simply striving for peak performance, to measure lung performance in daily life, link it to environmental factors (e.g., pollen, air quality, humidity), and take proactive steps before symptoms escalate.

Working with them, we set out to design and build an IoT, connected device app that would turn complex physiological data into accessible insights and real‑time preventive healthcare.

Personalised Alerts & Insights – Designed to detect performance degradation 24–36 hours before an episode, enabling preventive action.

Clinical‑Grade Data Export – Enables upload to GPs or clinical teams for monitoring or intervention.

Dual‑Audience Design – Supports users with diagnosed respiratory conditions and proactive individuals monitoring lung health or athletic performance.
